Science, Citizen

How can I use technological tools, such as a drone, to help me be a citizen scientist?

Citizen science uses a community’s strength and ingenuity to identify research questions, collect and analyze data, interpret those results, and make potential discoveries. This type of research uses technologies and applications in creative ways to address realworld problems.

In this activity, students will fly a drone to collect data using a drone’s camera. The data collected (images) will then be used to identify a community problem that needs to be addressed, such as an illegal dumping site. Students will then plan and implement a solution to their problem and continue to use a drone to document their progress and the end result of their solution.
