Build Hopper

Before building Hopper, take some time to ensure that your case contains all of the necessary components. If your case does not contain any of the following components, you may email us for support at support@ftw-robotics.com.

Lower Center of the Case:

  • Printer Circuit Board (PCB) (1) − the “brain” of Hopper which is responsible for all controls; contains multiple sensors, connection ports, and a camera; leave the PCB in its protective wrapper until it’s time to install

Upper Left of the Case:

  • Body Panels (5) − protect the Printer Circuit Board (PCB) and provide a stylish look for Hopper

  • Propellers (2 sets of 4) − responsible for the lift and upward motion of Hopper

  • Bag of Screws (1) − to build Hopper, bag contains spare screws in case of loss or damage

Lower Left of the Case:

  • Propeller Guards (4) − protect the propellers

  • A Motors (2 sets of 2) − rotate the propellers to provide lift, 1 of these sets is a spare in case of damage

  • C Motors (2 sets of 2) − rotate the propellers to provide lift, 1 of these sets is a spare in case of damage

  • Propeller Tool (1) − removes propellers for the disassembly of Hopper, it can also be used to remove the battery from Hopper

  • Motor Tool (1) − removes motors for the disassembly of Hopper

Upper Center of the Case:

  • Safety Glasses (1) − protect the pilot’s eyes

  • T-3 Screwdriver (1) − for the screws to build Hopper

  • Tweezers (1) − helpful for handling Hopper’s small components

Middle Center of the Case:

  • Airframe (1) − the main body of Hopper, every other component attaches to it

  • Feet (4) − provide Hopper a non-slippery takeoff and landing

Lid of the Case:

  • Batteries (3) − source of power for Hopper, can be stored in the upper right of the case

  • Charger (1) − charges Hopper’s batteries, can be stored in the upper right of the case

  • USB cable (1) − connects the charger to a USB port

  • Propeller Guards (4) − spare propeller guards in case of damage

Lower Right of the Case:

  • Controller (1) − controls Hopper’s flight

  • AAA Batteries (2) − source of power for the controller

Airfoil

A body (such as an airplane wing or propeller blade) designed to provide a desired reaction force when in motion relative to the surrounding air

Airframe

The Airframe is the main body of the drone that every other component attaches to

Anti-Clockwise [A]

Anti-Clockwise (or Counter Clockwise) [A] motion is one that proceeds in the opposite direction as a clock's hands

Battery

Energy source used to supply power to the drone

Clockwise [C]

Clockwise [C] motion is one that proceeds in the same direction as a clock's hands

Firmware

Firmware is permanent software programmed into a read-only memory

Gimbal

The mechanism that allows for different position of the camera on the drone

Micro-USB

a miniaturized version of the Universal Serial Bus interface which enables the direct charging of the drone's battery

Motor

A motor is powered by electricity that supplies motive power for moving parts

PCB

A Printed Circuit Board is a board design with a base board and copper traces to maintain connectivity between electronic components such as LED's, integrated circuits, and resistors for your devices

Propeller Twist

A differece in angle between the blade at its tip, and at the point where it meets the propller hub

Propellers

Mechanical device for propelling an aircraft or boat, consisting of a revolving shaft with two or more broad, angled blades attached to it
