Lesson 2
Organ Delivery
What Students Learn
Students learn how drone delivery has evolved and discuss the challenges and possibilities of transporting critical items like medical organs. Through a real case study, they examine how engineers use the Engineering Design Process to design safe navigation systems in complex environments with obstacles, radio interference, and strict flight rules.
What Students Do
Students work in teams to code Hopper to deliver a pair of lungs from one hospital to another across a simulated city grid. They calculate Hopper’s speed, plan a safe route around buildings and high‑interference zones, and refine their code using the Engineering Design Process to ensure an accurate and efficient delivery.
